It is the art of self-reflection, leading us to analyze our own motivations and emotions, as well as an understanding of how others see us. Self-Awareness: If I could only choose one attribute to have, I would choose self-awareness. “Golf is said to be a humbling game, but it is surprising how many people are either not aware of their weaknesses or else reckless of consequences.” – Bobby Jones When you are getting ready to tee off, lots of bad things could happen, but by focusing on executing your shot, they likely won’t. In my experience, fear drives poor decisions, causes paralysis, and debilitates. It can’t affect the future, but it certainly impacts the present. Fear is based on anticipating the worst for tomorrow and deducing the consequences. “Of all the hazards, fear is the worst.” – Sam Sneadįear: Of all the things that could happen, fear guarantees bad results. But in order to learn, you must “play a round.” Find new ways to be challenged, as well as new people to challenge you. I can’t imagine not having a thirst for knowledge or a passion for exploration. Not a day goes by when I am not fascinated by something new. Lifelong Learning: The longer I live, the more I’m convinced that lifelong learning is the key to happiness. “I never played a round when I didn’t learn something new about the game.” – Ben Hogan You’ll never know what you don’t know unless you ask. Asking for advice isn’t a sign of weakness, but instead a sign of maturity. The best players in the world rely on others to help them recognize their faults and correct their form. Mentorship Matters: All the practice in the world is not going to help if you’re rehearsing bad form. READ Sân Golf Sông Bé Và Vẻ Đẹp Điểm Chơi Golf Hấp Dẫn Nhất Bình Dương Your margin of error decreases, the bunkers look smaller, and the cup looks bigger. You must try, fail, adjust, and try again. Sure, bad bounces happen and, occasionally, the winds of fortune may swing in your favor, but the primary driver of consistent success is practice. The Thin Line: In golf and in life, the difference between a great shot and a lost ball can be merely a few feet. “It’s a funny thing the more I practice, the luckier I get.” – Arnold Palmer My next shot may also go awry, but it won’t be for the same reason. I’ve learned to embrace my failure, analyze, learn, and move on. I’d get up to the next shot and think about all the bad things that could happen. Two bad shots in a row, combined with a big number, used to make me want to walk off the course. My golf game used to be squarely in the former camp. Or you can look at it as normal and incredibly valuable. It can be demotivating, causing fear and anxiety. The guy who misses the best is going to win.” – Ben HoganĮmbrace Failure: Failure happens. READ B&B Matterhorn Golf (Bed and Breakfast), Randa (Switzerland) Deals Like in golf, I’ve learned to pull back a little, focus, and work on specific objectives. Sheer force does create action, but it’s often negated by a lack of strategy. Rarely is much accomplished from merely swinging hard. This perfectly mirrors my experience in the game of life. When I slowed it down and focused on making solid contact, good things started to happen. The more I analyzed my game, the more apparent it became that there was a negative correlation between how hard I swung and how far I hit the ball. Quickly, I realized that making solid contact created distance – and I rarely made solid contact from swinging hard. I reasoned that if I needed to hit the ball a long distance, I must need to create lots of force. Swing Hard and Pray: When I first started playing, I thought golf was all about swinging hard and hoping I made contact. But from sad experience, I learned not to try this in a round that meant anything.” – Bobby Jones “I get as much fun as the next man from whaling the ball as hard as I can and catching it squarely on the button. How could a game about controlling a little white ball be so relevant? Let me explain with a little help from some of the game’s legends…. For those who aren’t golfers, this may seem like an odd topic. Golf has an interesting way of imitating life or, I guess, vice versa. No matter what you shoot – the next day you have to go back to the first tee and begin all over again and make yourself into something.”- Peter Jacobsen “One of the most fascinating things about golf is how it reflects the cycle of life. You get bad breaks from good shots you get good breaks from bad shots, but you have to play the ball where it lies.” – Bobby Jones “Golf is the closest game to the game we call life.

It was important for us to show him not literally, "head-on", but just like everything else in our opener - figuratively and poetically, in the sensitive and emotional sense. Plague Doctor is the main antihero, and the moment of his appearance in the opener is in fact his first appearance in a movie. In addition, at the very last moment, we came up with the idea to completely depersonalize a man by adding a mask to his face. The main character of this scene is also a metaphorical, collective image - a bored fat man tired of life, mired in luxury and debauchery. We decided to create a classic, elegant and simple, recognizable image of the ancient Themis. Themis, one of the main images of the opener, is the top of our megalithic sculpture. The next step was to turn the main idea into a full-fledged scenario with a storyboard, to think over the action, characters, camera angles and the mechanics of camera movement. "It seemed to us that this idea wittily and broadly reflected the main plot of the film, and so with minor changes, we stuck to it until the end of the production." Case Study The sculpture symbolizes a sick society, as a consequence of suffering injustice, it exudes a black liquid and this liquid generates a mirror image of this world-sculpture, distorted, turned upside down, the crown of which is now the Plague Doctor - the personification of perverted, sick justice. The idea was to take all the images described in the director's brief and combine them into one sculpture, the crown of which will be Themis. They wanted to avoid just a "contemplative" narrative by showing only beautiful spectacular symbols, so we needed to find an idea and to subordinate everything to a single plan and dramaturgical logic. This was not an imposed obligation, but only offered as a starting point. Petersburg architectural heritage, as well as scandalous wealth and luxury. These were images somehow connected with the narrative of the film - the statue of Themis, the dump, callous construction sites against the background of the St. Dobro CCS carefully studied the images suggested by the director, using them as a starting point in our brainstorming. Our survey showed a strong correlation between quick decisions and good ones, 2 Respondents who reported that decision making was fast were 1.98 times more likely than other respondents to say that decisions were also of high quality. Indeed, faster decisions are often a happy outcome of these efforts. When improvements in these areas are coupled with an organizational commitment to implement decisions-embracing not undercutting them-companies can achieve lasting improvements in both decision quality and speed. Our latest research confirms the importance of this approach, and it also highlights for each major decision category a noteworthy practice-sometimes stimulating debate, for example, while in other cases empowering employees-that can yield outsize improvements in effectiveness. In our previous article, we proposed solutions that centered around categorizing decision types and organizing quite different processes against them. And a chemicals company CEO we know found himself devoting precious time to making hiring decisions four levels down the organization. A pharma company hesitated so long over whether to pounce on an acquisition target that it lost the deal to a competitor. One healthcare executive told us he sat through the same 90-minute proposal three times on separate committees because no one knew who was authorized to approve the decision. The reasons for the dissatisfaction are manifold: decision makers complain about everything from lack of real debate, convoluted processes, and an overreliance on consensus and death by committee, to unclear organizational roles, information overload (and the resulting inability to separate signal from noise), and company cultures that lack empowerment. Managers at a typical Fortune 500 company may waste more than 500,000 days a year on ineffective decision making. Our sources for this estimate included and the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (for salary data). Assuming that at an average Fortune 500 company of 56,400 employees, 20 percent are managers who work 220 days per year: these managers spend an average of 37 percent of their time making decisions, and 58 percent of this time is used ineffectively. And 14 percent of C-suite executives report spending more than 70 percent of their time on the topic. 1 On average, 54 percent of respondents to our survey report spending more than 30 percent of their time on decision making. The opportunity costs of this are staggering: about 530,000 days of managers’ time potentially squandered each year for a typical Fortune 500 company, equivalent to some $250 million in wages annually. Fewer than half of the survey respondents say that decisions are timely, and 61 percent say that at least half the time spent making them is ineffective. A survey we conducted recently with more than 1,200 managers across a range of global companies gave strong signs of growing levels of frustration with broken decision-making processes, with the slow pace of decision-making deliberations, and with the uneven quality of decision-making outcomes. Since then, we’ve conducted research to more clearly understand this balance, and the results have been disquieting. Worst because organizational dynamics and digital decision-making dysfunctions were causing growing levels of frustration among senior leaders we knew. Best because of more data, better analytics, and clearer understanding of how to mitigate the cognitive biases that often undermine corporate decision processes. Two years ago, we wrote about how it was simultaneously the best and worst of times for decision makers in senior management. In the truck to Cleveland, Marlin and Nemo spot a fish they think is Dory, only for it to be a camouflaged Hank. When Dory starts to hallucinate upon hearing her parents may be dead, Hank finally loses his patience and scoops Dory from the tank, leaving Marlin and Nemo in the tank by accident, only to drop the beaker carrying Dory when a human tries to grab him, sending Dory down a drain and back into the ocean where she finds her parents. Hank later appears in Quarantine and helps Dory, Marlin, and Nemo get to the Blue Tang tank, telling Dory to hurry as the truck leaves in 3 minutes. Hank tells Dory he thinks she's ready before dumping her into the tank, but not before he tells her that he will have a hard time forgetting about her when Dory states that she thinks she'll remember him, finally revealing the softer, sweeter side of his personality. Dory calms him down by telling him to keep swimming, only for him to release ink upon being poked, scaring all the kids away.ĭory and Hank finally make it to the Open Ocean Exhibit, where Dory thanks Hank for helping her by giving Hank her tag. Dory decides not to go through the pipes, vowing instead to travel with Hank as she thinks she'll get herself lost without company.ĭory and Hank use a baby stroller to find the Open Ocean Exhibit, but Dory's interest in the world's most powerful glasses causes them to fall into a touching tank, where Hank shows his fear of being touched by humans. Hank takes her through the building, but Dory sees a bucket labeled Destiny and causes herself to fall into a bucket of fish food for Destiny, a near-sighted whale shark, who tells her she's from the Open Ocean exhibit, and how to get there through the pipes. He decides to help Dory find her family as long as she gives her tag in return. To do so, all he needs is a tag, which Dory has. Hank first appears in the film in Dory's tank room in the Marine Life Institute, planning to escape into Quarantine so he can live a life of solitude in Cleveland. In spite of his pragmatic behavior in planning to live at a permanent aquarium at Cleveland, Hank learned to adapt living in the ocean, learning that he can experience more life at the ocean than living in an aquarium as shown at the end of the film. Later, as shown on one of the digital signages at the Opean Ocean area, Hank has three hearts, just like octopuses in real life have. As an octopus, Hank unleashes ink whenever exaggerated, as shown during the part where several children attempt to touch Dory and Hank at the touch pool exhibit at the Kid Zone area, just like what octopuses do in real life when threatened by predators. In spite of his temper towards Dory about her delaying tactics in a plan to find her parents before the truck leaves the Marine Life Institute to arrive at Cleveland, he still shows care towards her. As a master of disguise, Hank uses the ability of camouflage, which octopuses use in real life to confuse their predators. Hank is described as a seven-tentacled octopus (dubbed "septopus"), due to him losing his tentacle at one point. Hank is after one thing - a ticket on a transport truck to a cozy Cleveland facility where he’ll be able to enjoy a peaceful life of solitude. But make no mistake: he’s not looking for a friend. An accomplished escape artist with camouflaging capabilities to boot, Hank is the first to greet Dory when she finds herself in the Marine Life Institute. But Hank is just as competent as his eight-armed peers. Actually, he’s a ‘septopus:’ he lost a tentacle - along with his sense of humor - somewhere along the way.
